In 1938, on the bustling streets of Main Street in Winneconne, the foundations of what would become the Ryf family business were laid. It was here that Hugo Ryf embarked on his entrepreneurial journey, establishing the Ryf Oil Company.

Specializing in delivering gas and fuel oil to the surrounding area, Hugo's business quickly became a cornerstone of the community. Alongside fuel distribution, the company also operated a service station and garage, offering essential automotive services to local residents. But Hugo's vision extended beyond just fuel and automotive services; he also ventured into lawn mower sales and service, appliance sales, and furnace service and repairs.

2nd Generation - John & Robert Ryf

In the early 1960s, the Ryf family business entered its second generation of ownership with the capable hands of Hugo's sons, John and Robert Ryf. With a deep-rooted commitment to upholding the family legacy of service and dedication, John and Robert assumed leadership roles within the company, each bringing their unique skills and expertise to propel the business forward.

John Ryf, entrusted with the operation of the service station and garage, quickly became a familiar face to Winneconne residents, providing expert automotive services with a smile. Meanwhile, Robert Ryf assumed responsibility for the gas and fuel deliveries, ensuring that homes and businesses across the area remained well-supplied with essential energy resources. Amidst the hustle and bustle of running the family business, a new generation was being groomed to carry the torch forward. Jeff Ryf, John's son, spent his formative years attending Middle and High School while also immersing himself in the intricacies of the business. From tending the pumps at the service station to shadowing his uncle Robert on furnace maintenance and repair jobs, Jeff absorbed invaluable lessons in customer service, craftsmanship, and the importance of hands-on experience.

3rd Generation - Jeff Ryf

Upon graduating from high school, Jeff Ryf embarked on a journey of professional development that would shape the future of the family business. Enrolling at Eau Claire Technical College, Jeff immersed himself in the intricacies of the HVAC trade, honing his skills and expertise in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Additionally, Jeff expanded his knowledge base by delving into small engine repair during his time at Lawnboy, further enriching his toolkit of technical know-how.

After completing his education at Chippewa Valley Technical College in 1979, Jeff gained valuable experience working for another local Bryant dealer before returning to Winneconne to help his father launch the HVAC side of the business.  

In the dynamic landscape of the 1980s, Jeff assumed leadership of the business, steering it toward continued growth and success. Recognizing the importance of aligning with reputable partners who shared his unwavering commitment to quality and customer-centric values, Jeff made the strategic decision to transition Ryf Heating & A/C into a Bryant dealership in 1990.

4th Generation - Nathan Ryf

In 2005, the Ryf family business welcomed its fourth generation as Jeff's son, Nathan Ryf, joined the ranks. Nathan wasted no time in making his mark within the company, swiftly establishing himself as the go-to expert for installations. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for excellence, Nathan brought a fresh perspective to the family business, further enriching its legacy of quality service and innovation.

Nathan's role extended beyond his individual contributions to the company; he also assumed the responsibility of passing down his extensive knowledge of HVAC systems to the next generation of technicians.
